I'm a trainee referee – what do I need to do after completing my course?

Congratulations on completing Day Two of The FA Referee Course!

The next step towards becoming an FA Qualified Referee is to complete your five qualifying matches within six months of attending Day Two.

Complete your five qualifying matches

To qualify as a referee, you'll need to officiate five matches.

These matches should be affiliated football fixtures where you are appointed as the referee.

After each game, make sure you keep a record of:

• Date
• Competition
• Teams
• Venue
• Final score

You'll use this information to complete your qualification requirements.

How do I find games?

There are several ways to find matches:

• Register on Centre Circle and apply for available appointments.
• Contact local leagues or clubs looking for referees (https://www.sussexfa.com/leagues-and-clubs/county-leagues)
• Speak to your County FA if you need help finding games.

How do I activate my qualification?

Once you have completed your five qualifying matches, you'll need to:

• Upload your games onto Centre Circle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrA-D4S8C0Y)
• Attend Day Three of The FA Referee Course (Module 5)

Once everything has been verified, your qualification will be completed and you'll become an FA Qualified Referee.

What support is available?

You're not expected to complete your first season alone.

Sussex FA offers support throughout your journey, including:

• Advice from the Referee Development Team.
• Help finding fixtures if required.
• Development opportunities during your first season.
• Referee Associations where you can meet and learn from other officials.
