How do I find games to referee?

Once you've completed Day Two of The FA Referee Course, the next step is finding matches to officiate.

There are several ways to secure appointments, and many referees use a combination of the methods below.

Find games through Centre Circle

The easiest way to find appointments is through Centre Circle, an online referee appointments system.

Using Centre Circle, you can:

• Set your availability.
• View and apply for available fixtures.
• Receive appointments from leagues you have signed up to.
• Submit match reports (where applicable).
• Manage your refereeing appointments in one place.

Not every league currently uses Centre Circle, so it's important to explore the other options below too.

Many leagues welcome new referees and are always looking to recruit match officials.

If a league doesn't use Centre Circle, you can contact their Referee Appointments Officer directly to enquire about available fixtures.

Most leagues publish contact details on their website.

Contact local clubs

Grassroots clubs are often able to point you towards leagues requiring referees or introduce you to local appointments officers.

This can be a great way to begin building experience, particularly during your first season.

Apply for open fixtures

Many leagues advertise unfilled appointments through:

• Centre Circle
• League websites
• Social media
• Referee Association groups

Keep an eye on these opportunities, particularly during weekends when appointments are returned.
